SUPPLY LIST

2008-09

GENERAL:  Please understand that some supplies may have to be replenished during the school year as they are used in the learning process.  Teachers are specific so that you can be assured you are providing the materials that your child needs in support of their learning. 

• NO WHITE OUT OR LIQUID PAPER TYPE PRODUCTS WILL BE ALLOWED.  These are on the State Police list of inhalants most often abused by younger students and pose a safety concern.  The material is also difficult to remove from floors and furniture.

• Only ELMER’S Glue for the following reasons:
• In our experience the other glues do not hold as long on the student projects and it is very sad for them when the project falls apart while posted on the bulletin board especially if it gets stepped on.
• Some of the glues are extremely thin and cause a mess for the child and teacher, sometimes ruining a project.
• Some of the glues are extremely thick and are difficult to use, sometimes ruining a project. 

• ONLY STICK STYLE PENS for the following reasons:
• Retractable pens are a disruption in the classroom as some thought-filled students click them without thinking causing a distraction to others who need quiet. 
• Students have been known to make them into weapons that are not easily detected.

• NO MECHANICAL PENCILS for the following reasons:
• The lead is more readily broken off and dropped on the floor causing marring of the floor tile.
• Lead packs necessary for refilling the pencil get broken or spilled causing even more floor marring than a single broken piece of the lead.
• The thinner lead required tends to break more often resulting in lost attention.

• All students MUST HAVE a back pack or school bag, but NO WHEELED BAGS!
• They pose a danger on the stairs
• They don’t fit in the lockers for easy storage
• They are unsafe on the floor in the classroom as they take up walking space
• They mar the floors

• The teachers are specific in the items that are needed for their classes.  Please provide them so that you child has the materials needed to do the work necessary for success for everyone in the class.

GRADE-LEVEL SPECIFIC LIST OF SUPPLIES

  PRE -SCHOOL - (Please label all clothing/pain shirts/blankets/school boxes/backpack)

BRING SUPPLIES TO OPEN HOUSE

·        SMALL plastic pencil/school box (shoebox size does not fit shelves)

·        Crayons – 2 boxes either 8 count (large) or 16 count (regular size)

·        Crayola water color paints – primary or bold basic colors only

·        1 box of 10 washable markers

·        2  8 oz. bottle Elmer’s All Purpose White Glue

·        7 glue sticks  

·        1 box of Tissues (200)

·        2 rolls of paper towels

·        2 containers of diaper wipes (can be refill packs)

·        1 box bandages (any variety)

·        1 box Ziploc gallon freezer bags

·        1 package cheap coffee filters (200)

·        1 large bottle hand sanitizer (or a refill bottle)

·        1 snack item (i.e. Cheez-its, Nilla Wafers, pretzels, etc.)  Please do not send sugary, iced, or marshmallow desserts to school.

·        Beach Towel or small blanket for naptime (small pillow optional)

·        Old oversized shirt or smock for use during messy/painting activities 

·        Complete change of clothes (underwear, top, pants, etc.) in case of accidents or spills.  Make sure to update the change of clothing to keep it seasonally weather appropriate. 

·        Each preschooler needs a backpack to carry home papers, notes, and weekly folder.  Bring on the first day of class.  ROLLING BACKPACKS ARE NOT PPERMITTED.

KINDERGARTEN - (Please label all materials and clothing worn to school)   

·        3   4oz. bottles of Elmer’s White Glue

·        Scissors/Fiskar (steel)

·        Crayons – 2 packs of eight colors and 2 packs of 16 colors. (This is necessary due to the number and type of projects we do in the grade) Please NO 24 color boxes and no primary sized crayons

·        Box of Crayola water colors

·        Index Cards with storage box (for building a Word Bank)

·        1 package of Pink Pearl erasers

·        1 large boxes of Tissues

·        2 rolls of paper towels

·        Beach Towel for naptime

·        Old oversized shirt or smock for use during messy activities   

The teacher will provide the type of pencil and folder that she would like them to use this year.  Please bring the supplies to Kindergarten Orientation.   

FIRST GRADE - (Please label all materials and clothing worn to school) 

            ·        3 packages of #2 pencils – sharpened prior to school

·        8 oz. bottle Elmer’s All Purpose White Glue

·        2 soft erasers

·        1 large box of 16 or 24 crayons

·        1 small box of water colors

·        1 box of 12 colored pencils

·        1 pack of washable markers

·        1 zippered pencil case

·        1 coloring book (not too large)

·        2 large boxes of Tissues

·        1 roll of paper towels

·        Scissors/Fiskar (steel)

·        3 pocket folders (one marked “To Go Home”)

·        2 large spiral notebooks (wide-ruled 70 page)

·        1 index card box for standard 3x5 index cards

·        2 packages of 3 x 5 index cards

·        1 box of wipes (girls only)

·        1 box of Ziploc bags – quart size (boys only)

·        Old oversized shirt or smock for use during messy activities 

·        Small snack daily for recess  

SECOND GRADE - (Please label all materials and clothing worn to school)  

• 2 packages of #2 pencils
• Box of 24 crayons
• Small box of water colors
• Box of 12 colored pencils
• Pencil top erasers

• 4 glue sticks
• Large zippered pencil case (boxes do not fit in desk)
• Scissors/Fiskar (steel)
• 12 inch ruler with centimeters and inches
• 2 spiral notebooks
• 2 pocket folders (mark one “To Go Home”)
• 2 large boxes of Tissues
• 2 rolls of paper towels
• 1 box Ziploc Sandwich Bags
• Old oversized shirt or smock for use during messy activities
• Clorox Disinfecting Wipes

THIRD GRADE - (Please label all materials and clothing worn to school) 

• Package of wide ruled loose leaf paper (300 sheets)
• 2 pocket folders
• 2 – 3-subject notebooks (wide-ruled) – 8 notebooks
• #2 pencils (2 packages to start – NO mechanicals!)
• Soft eraser
• Pack of wide magic markers (Washable)
• Box of 24 crayons only (no larger boxes)
• 1 pack of colored pencils
• 1 small box of water colors
• 8 oz. bottle Elmer’s All Purpose White Glue
• Pointed Scissors/Fiskar (steel)
• 12 inch wooden or metal ruler with centimeters and inches
• 1 small zippered pencil case
• 2 boxes of Tissues
• 2 rolls of paper towels / and 12 oz. bottle Hand Sanitizer
• Erasable ink pens  - Blue and Black after Christmas
• 2 Red ink stick style pens (for correcting school work)

FOURTH GRADE

• 3 packages of wide-ruled filler paper  /  50 lined index cards
• Yellow Highlighter
• Blue or black erasable stick style pens such as BIC (no color variation; no click pens)
• Red ink stick style pens (for correcting school work)

* These novels are provided in class sets by the school.   There is no need to purchase your own copy unless the family chooses to do so.
